"the dog stars"

my take: this is an amazing book. i'm not a huge fan of post-apocolyptic fiction .... the road was a bit much for me. sooooo dark. and heavy.

this is poetic, emotional, powerful, quiet and intense. really, the writing is beautiful. a celebration of life and nature in post-apocolyptic Colorado.

i read this on the beach in the Bahamas and i was tense & terrified as i read parts and sobbing as i read another section...climb in if you're ready for the ride.

my source: surfing amazon...then i bought it for my father-in-law for his birthday but switched it (after i gave it to him) for Unbroken ... i just didn't know if it was going to be as great as Unbroken

my verdict: excellent

  1. Anne couldn't put it down, so of course we all wanted it next. I think I was on the list after Vange and Jenn. But ha, I just got on Kindle from the lucky day.

  2. I devoured this one. To quote a Kevin Henkes line in his book Lilly's Purple Plastic Purse "Wow, that is all I can say. Wow." I read it on an airplane and the guy beside me kept reading over my shoulder. Very irritating. And he'd read it before. Good thing I am married to him or I may have hit the call light!

  3. apparently i'm signed into google on my son's account ...
